The background is a photo of a photo of a print from a newspaper I saw at the Sumter Cemetery in SC. I have tons of photos mostly chronicling my ancestry. On my Father's side two members of the line were in the American Revolution one as a Scribe for George Washington the other as a Cartographer for George Washingtons Army. On My Mother's side George Washington was named after George Eskridge; kinda neat how my family has been intertwined all this time. In 1694 An Eskridge in Wales sold a member of my Father's line some land in Limerick Ireland... They knew each other well in Business and socially...

So many in America know little if anything of their family's connection to the ebb and flow of our own history.
My family sailed from the Netherlands in 1660 to New Amsterdam, which would not become British for another 7 years, and then apart of the new USA for another 99 years.
Now we are the oldest Dutch family name in North America.
You've inspired me to consider my family history as a backdrop for art.
